Why these communities and not the cities
Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview are largely on municipal sewer, so most properties inside those city limits do not need an on-site system at all. Septic work lives in the surrounding countryside — the settlements, the coastal villages, the properties down a long driveway off a rural route.
That geography shapes the work. Lots out here are larger, which usually means more room for a disposal field and for the replacement field a property will eventually need. But the ground varies enormously across this region: shallow soil over bedrock in the higher ground west and north of the city, heavier clay in places, and a seasonal high water table in the low-lying areas near the marshes and watercourses. Two properties ten minutes apart can need very different systems.
That is why the test pit matters so much. Nobody can tell you what your lot needs by looking at a map of it.
